Community Spotlight: Tiffany's Yoga Journey

Hey Yogis,
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. At Reunited Yoga Studio, community is everything. As human beings, our innate nature to form relationships has been essential for our survival throughout history. Practicing yoga in a group or connecting with an online community isn't merely an enhancement to the practice; it's a ritual that gathers energy and like-minded individuals to move, breathe, flow, and exist as one.
We each approach our yoga practice for various reasons—flexibility, mindfulness, rest, and more. While our intentions may appear similar, the way we each show up is unique. This contrast provides a beautiful perspective on how connected we are, even as our experiences differ slightly. I spoke with Tiffany Batemen, a longtime yogi and passionate supporter of Reunited Yoga, about her journey with yoga over the past decade and its impact on her life. Here’s her story:
"I started yoga about nine years ago after years of heavy weightlifting. I reached a phase in my life where I no longer wanted to feel like I was fighting or punishing myself. I wanted to embrace the new phase of life I was entering. After attending a lot of therapy and seeking something gentle, I stumbled upon yoga. A yoga retreat allowed me to practice daily, and it brought about significant change in me. It helped heal me and enabled me to find stillness and inner peace—an extraordinary experience. I always encourage others to try yoga because it’s not just about flexibility; it’s about breath, awareness, and gratitude."
"I discovered Reunited Yoga on Instagram, where I saw Riley joyfully jumping around in a colorful sweater. I felt a connection; she seemed like someone I could open up to and practice with. Creating a safe environment is essential for me, and Riley is so trauma-informed, gentle, and aware of safety during yoga practice. She brings a bright light and teaches in a way that I can easily follow, which is why I became one of the Founders Flow Members."
"Practicing yoga has given me more energy. Although I already have a lot of energy, yoga helps me find moments of stillness, allowing me to recharge later. I've learned to embrace savasana instead of dreading it. I used to make grocery lists in my head during savasana, but now I relax and let it be, and it feels wonderful."
Tiffany's journey is a reminder that life continues to change, and we must move forward. Although how she starts her day now is different from nine years ago, her drive and passion for life are renewed daily through her relationship with yoga.
